T2* cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) is an effective and robust non-invasive tool for tissue iron measurement. An algorithm that provides myocardial T2* values based on the 17-segment model would improve clinical workflow.
Patients with siderosis with suspected myocardial involvement undergo T2* mapping of the heart. Normally, T2* maps are analysed by placing ROIs in the myocardium. The algorithm should be able to fully automate the segmentation and T2 fitting process, without any user input.
Patient undergoes T2* mapping of the heart, that is usually done in 3 short axis slices
Algorithm receives inputs:
Imaging dataset
Algorithm executes:
Automatically segments LV myocardium based on the 17-segment model
Calculates T2* using the known fitting algorithm
Displays segmental T2* on a bulls-eye diagram and indicates pathologic values (<20ms)
